Law Shield regrets to inform our Missouri Law Shield members that the City Council of Kansas City voted unanimously earlier this week to ban open carry in the state’s largest city.
As our members know, open carry is common in Missouri, but cities are allowed to ban it under current law.
The 9-0 vote was taken on July 31. The Kansas City ordinance prohibiting open carry goes into effect in ten days.
Exceptions to the ban include process servers and coroners, active and retired law enforcement, the military, and ROTC students and those participating in school-sponsored shooting sports.
