Once Again, ATF Pushes Back Restrictive Gun Trust Rule

The ATF has once again decided to delay publishing proposed Rule 41P, this time until December of this year. The rule, if implemented in its current form, would make it significantly more difficult to acquire National Firearms Act (NFA) items like suppressors and short-barreled rifles through the use of “legal entities” such as an “NFA Trust.” The good news is that until the final rule is published, the requirements to obtain, transfer, and possess NFA items remains the same. So, although you’ve still got time to purchase an NFA item using a trust, time may be running out if the ATF ultimately proceeds with implementing Rule 41P!

Texas Law Shield will keep you informed of any updates or changes to the proposed rule as they develop. In the meantime, if you are looking to get a suppressor or other NFA item, be sure to check our NFA Trust Program before the rule goes into effect in December.
