What Has Changed at Chipotle?

Texas Law Shield notes that the Chipotle restaurant chain has asked its customers to stop bringing guns to its restaurants. Recently, participants from an open-carry demonstration in Texas brought guns into a Chipotle, “causing many of our customers anxiety and discomfort,” the company said in a statement.

The statement continued, “Because of this, we are respectfully asking that customers not bring guns into our restaurants, unless they are authorized law enforcement personnel.”

Bloomberg’s gun-control groups have claimed Chipotle’s statement as a victory, but nothing has really changed. Unless the stores specifically post a sign banning permitted concealed handguns (in conformity to TPC §30.06), license holders can still carry in those restaurants in Texas.

However, we would expect that groups which open-carry into Chipotle restaurants will be asked to leave.

Does Chipotle’s statement change your perception of the restaurant? Will you still eat there?
