Is the Army Hiding a Better Service Rifle?

Law Shield members who are also AR-15 owners are left to wonder which rifle outperformed the M4 carbine in a recently discontinued Army test of battle rifles.

According to the Washington Times, a competing rifle outperformed the Army’s favored M4A1 carbine in key tests during a competition last year.

An “official use only report” by the Center for Naval Analyses shows that one of the eight unidentified weapons outperformed the M4 on reliability and on the number of rounds fired before stoppages occurred.

Oddly, the service abruptly called off the tests and stuck with the M4, according to a new confidential report obtained by the Times.
